What is whale ?

Whale (for WHich ALternative is Elected) is a web interface dedicated to voting theory. The aim is to illustrate the application of collective decision making to everyday life situations, where people have to take a decision (e.g. choosing a meeting date) in common. With this interface,

as a decision maker, you can create a poll (consisting of a list of alternatives people have to choose amongst) and invite people to participate in this poll, and see the results given by several voting procedures, to choose one or several alternatives;
as an individual, concerned by a collective choice, you can participate in a poll if you are invited, and vote by expressing graduated preferences about the alternatives;
as an experimental voting theorist, you can periodically download anonymized data collected from the polls.
